Tenth week of pharmaceutical market: slowing growth in value and recovery in volume on 2022
In the week of March 6-12, the pharmacy market marks a setback that slows growth in value and recovery in volume over 2022, whose curves tend to become increasingly flat.
This is according to the report with which Iqvia updates to the first two and a half months figures and trend of the channel: in ten weeks, pharmacy totals a turnover of 5.16 billion euros, +2.3% in values over the same period in 2022, which is equivalent to almost 496 million packs, -3.3% in volumes.

Influencing the setback, in particular, is the slowdown in ethical drug, which in one week reduces value growth from 3.7 percent to 3.5 percent and volume growth from 2.1 percent to 1.8 percent over 2022.

The free trade area, on the other hand, maintains the momentum even though the gain in value and volume is only a few tenths of a point.
Several slowdowns also among the commercial baskets, with only patient care growing by one point although the difference on 2022 remains sharply negative.
Growth in value and volume also markedly declined for personal care from 11.4 percent to 10.9 percent in sales and from 6.7 percent to 6.1 percent in packages sold.
The recovery of the vitamins and dietary supplements segment continues, declining, however, increases in value and volume for nutraceuticals.

Flying – as anticipated – are products related to seasonality, which benefit from the persistence of flu-like syndromes and cold ailments: flu and cold remedies grow in two months by 31% in value and 18.4% in volume over the same period in 2022. Nasal saline solutions score +65.3% and +59.7% respectively. Among seasonals, anti-flu and nasal saline solutions seem to have lost their momentum, immunostimulants hold.
