Mercato farmaceutico italiano: Crescita tendenziale in calo a 25 settimane dall’inizio dell’anno
The pharmacy market once again shows a declining curve, with a year-to-date growth rate below 1%, a situation not seen since February. Additionally, there has been a contraction of over four points in the number of units sold.
This snapshot is captured by the IQVIA report, which provides updated figures and trends for the period of June 19-25. In just under six months, the pharmacy sector has accumulated a revenue of €12.6 billion, reflecting a 0.8% increase compared to the same period in 2022. However, the number of units sold has contracted by 4% compared to the previous year.
A similar declining curve, albeit less pronounced, can be observed in the ethical drug segment. In week 25, it experienced a value growth of 0.9% but a volume decline of 1.5%. Overall, both indicators show positive trends: a 2.2% increase in revenue and a 0.3% rise in units sold.
The commercial sector, however, faced a different scenario. Between June 19 and 25, it recorded a further 2.2% decline in value and a 12% decrease in volume on an annual basis. Consequently, there was a continued negative growth rate, with revenue dropping further below zero (-0.9%).
On the other hand, the personal care sector displayed a slight rebound. In week 25, it achieved a 15.6% year-on-year increase in value and a 7.6% rise in volume, resulting in cumulative growth rates of 7.3% and 2.9% respectively.
The dermocosmetics segment follows a similar positive trend, while the nutritional supplements and vitamins group continues its annual decline in both value and volume.
Finally, it can be said that the season has finally opened for sunscreens, as they closed the week with sales surpassing both value and volume compared to the same seven days in 2022.
