Pharmacy market trend growth in Iqvia report: data and trend
The pharmacy market also marks a flat line in trend growth at the conclusion of the second week of May, which on an annual basis – over the same period of 2022 – grows in values by 2.9% but loses in volumes by 1.5%.
This is the picture that comes from Iqvia’s report with which it relates figures and channel trends from the first 19 weeks of this year: in four and a half months, pharmacy totals a turnover of 9.65 billion euros, +1.2% over 2022, for a total of 920 million packs sold -4%.
Among the two segments that make up the pharmacy market, ethical and commercial, the former is the one that stands out for moderate dynamism: in the week, growth in values and volumes is 4.9% and 3.3% respectively, for a trend growth over the four and a half months of 2.5 and 0.6% also in values and volumes.
The free-sale area, on the other hand, shows a barely perceptible increase in the week in values +0.2% and a sharp contraction in volumes -8.8%, bringing the year-on-year progressive to -0.5% and -10.6% respectively.
Among the trade baskets, personal care continues to enjoy excellent health, which in week 19 grew year-on-year by 6.1% in values and 1.9% in volumes, hence a trend growth of 9.5% and 4.9% respectively.
In otc, on the other hand, the progression of the vitamins and dietary supplements group remains uncertain, which in four and a half months remains virtually stable in values with +0.2% and loses sharply in volumes with -7.1%.
On the other hand, the slow decline of seasonal-related products anti-cold+influenza and nasal saline solutions continues.
